Privacy Policy

Last updated: October 5, 2026

MBW Tools ("we", "our", "us") respects your privacy. This policy explains what data we collect (spoiler: almost nothing), how we use it, and your rights.

1. Summary

• All tools run locally in your browser. Files you upload (images, text) never leave your device.
• No account required. We don't ask for your name, email, or any personal information.
• Your shortcuts and settings are stored in your browser's localStorage, not on our servers.
• We use Google Analytics and Google AdSense to understand traffic and show ads. These services may set cookies. See sections 4 and 5.

2. Data we do NOT collect

We do not collect, store, or transmit:

• Images you upload to any tool
• Text you paste into any tool
• URLs you enter into the QR code generator or Chinese name generator
• Your search keywords (search happens via a redirect to the target engine)
• Your name, email, phone number, or any account information

3. Data stored in your browser (localStorage)

To make the site work, we store the following in your browser's localStorage. This data never leaves your device:

• mbw_shortcuts_en / mbw_shortcuts_zh — your custom shortcut list
• mbw_categories_en / mbw_categories_zh — your custom search engine list

You can clear this data anytime by clearing your browser data, or by clicking "Reset" in the Settings panel.

4. Google Analytics

We use Google Analytics 4 (GA4) to understand aggregate traffic — page views, country, device type, referrer. GA4 uses cookies and may collect your IP address (truncated/anonymized). We do not link this data to any individual.

You can opt out via the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.

5. Google AdSense

We use Google AdSense to display ads. Google and its partners may use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites.

You can opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings, or www.aboutads.info.

6. Third-party CDNs

Some tools load libraries from public CDNs:

• jsDelivr — for qrcodejs, marked, and @huggingface/transformers
• HuggingFace — for AI model downloads (background removal tool only)

These requests are subject to the CDN's own privacy policies.

7. Children's privacy

MBW Tools is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children.

8. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy occasionally. The "Last updated" date at the top will reflect any changes. Continued use of the site after changes constitutes acceptance.
